Experience

  • Providing strategic advice on issues related to a politically sensitive project undertaken by a public sector entity and thereafter the creation and review of necessary resources to facilitate the project.

  • Acting for a State Government entity in respect of numerous projects, including the Oonoonba development project and Carseldine Urban Village development, from conception forward.

  • Reviewing and advising a Local Government on a suite of policies including those required by the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld) and Local Government Regulation 2012 (Qld) to ensure consistency, statutory compliance and best practice.

  • Advising and defending a claim by a large mining company against a Local Government seeking significant rates refunds, together with advising on future rates re-categorisations.

  • Delivery of induction training to an incoming CEO to ensure that the CEO was across significant aspects and statutory obligations associated with their role.

  • Attending Council meetings for a Local Government, in both open and closed business, to deliver legal advice and explain officers’ reports on various issues including procurement, resolution of disputes, delegable powers and distribution of trust funds.
